Building on last week’s theme of NFT’s, this week we are spotlighting Mol LeArt, a platform created by Audsssy for Web3 communities to create and manage their own portfolio of digital assets in a decentralized way.
An NFT Marketplace That Values Your Property
Audsssy comes from a professional background in intellectual property law. When we spoke last week, he lamented that in the web2 space it is incredibly difficult to control your digital assets because they can be downloaded and copied so easily—that it is often impossible to track who actually created an asset and definitively say, “I own this digital file.” After taking a break for working in crypto in 2019, he returned to the space last year and became fascinated with the rise of NFTs. Given his background, Audsssy was especially curious about how NFTs could help creators retain control over their assets—he saw blockchain as a natural evolution for navigating IP in the future. At this time, Audssy was also excited to see DAOs flourishing, and an idea began to emerge: put NFT management into a DAO setting so that communities can collectively manage their own portfolio of creative assets.
Audsssy started working on Mol LeArt in August of last year and spun it up as a sub-DAO of LexDAO, a legal engineering group (and also a member of the Panvala League!). The idea was to create a marketplace for NFTs in which web3 communities are able to create and manage their own portfolio of digital assets. This platform differs from other popular marketplaces, whose front-end design may make it easy to mint and trade NFTs, but whose artists don’t actually own the contract they’ve minted with.
Things you will be able to do with Mol LeArt:
Set up a community commons & choose artists to mint work within it (like a band coming together to put out music—the band represents the community, the musicians represent the individual artists)
Get access to governance functions to help manage community and commons (store NFTs, confirm a sale, withdraw funds, etc.)
Enable community token drops and set up a reward system for creators and buyers
Log all transactions on the blockchain, utilizing smart contracts made by Mol LeArt, but owned by your community
For public audience, gain access to a decentralized NFT marketplace--support creators by purchasing individual NFTs or entire commons (like purchasing a whole album versus just one track)
