This week we spoke with Thomas Zeinzinger of lab10, a collective that deploys open, public blockchain protocols and exclusively focuses all its resources to help companies, organizations and municipalities reinvent energy and mobility with the climate in mind.
From Meetup to Collective
Thomas Zeinzinger got into the Ethereum blockchain in 2016. “Since then, I spend all of my time in the blockchain space,” he told us chuckling, only half-joking. In 2017 he started assembling people—creating blockchain meetups and bringing folks together to connect over crypto. These gatherings resulted in the creation of lab10, a collective of passionate individuals (now 36 of them) who wanted to collaborate on what they could create together using blockchain. “We had to go through an alignment phase—there were a lot of different people with different background and priorities,” he said. “But we valued things like open source, decentralized identities, privacy, and making a more democratic space.” With time, lab10 recognized that they couldn’t work on every project they were passionate about—they had to focus and move towards a mission. Having taken various research and development projects in the energy sector, the collective gravitated towards working with renewable energy and sustainability mobility—and using blockchain technology for it. “This was a defining phase,” said Thomas. As a group, lab10 recognized that in order to strive towards sustainability, they needed a new kind of wallet and a blockchain system that was not based on proof of work. Thus was born ARTIS Blockchain Network and Minerva Wallet—two foundational pieces to facilitate a sustainable future.
Minerva Wallet
While ARTIS, a proof of authority blockchain network, is still in the making, Minerva Wallet, a mobile wallet for cryptocurrencies and digital identities, is up and running. “A wallet itself is a necessary thing you need if you are interacting with blockchain. We wanted to create a wallet that is both user friendly and non-custodial.” What makes Minerva Wallet particularly special is that it also incorporates decentralized digital identity in addition to asset management. You can download and use Minerva Wallet today by visiting their website. You can also bid on their SuperToken, $MIVA, in their upcoming auction on May 20th, lasting 5 days!

“With open, trustless, blockchain protocols and decentralized identifiers we spearhead a symbiotic climate and human centric economic model. A world where mobility and energy resources are pooled, shared and radically reduced greenhouse emissions meet tangible economic benefits. A win-win for Earth and humans.”
Minerva Wallet is one of various notable projects lab10 has worked on under the vision of a sustainable future. We encourage you to learn more about what this cooperative is up to by visiting their website, Twitter, and Medium!
Thank you Thomas and lab10 for your visionary work and participation in the Panvala League community!
