This week we spoke with Willy Ogorzaly and Ashley of Giveth, an altruistic community building the future of giving, starting with a free, open-source platform connecting donors and mutual aid projects.
A New Way to Give
“Our mission is to make giving effortless and reward people all around the world for making positive change,” Willy told us in an interview. Both he and Ashley, two members of the Giveth team, spoke passionately and articulately about their work with the Giveth community—clearly inspired by the project. Giveth is all about connecting people, ideas, and resources to facilitate and incentivize social impact. On their website they write, “we are not content with the current non-profit industry, and we are committed to developing a better, decentralized alternative.”
Giveth is primarily funded by donations, and their system connects people on the ground directly to Givers, providing a high level of transparency and accountability. You can find a plethora of projects to support on their website—from protests in Columbia to a sustainable village in the Netherlands to creative recycling initiatives fighting to end the use of plastics. What connects these unique projects is a common desire to leave the world a better place, and Giveth helps by providing a fundraising platform that uses #blockchain4good. What’s amazing is that when you give to a project on the Giveth DApp, 100% of your funds go to that project!
A Focus on Community
Giveth is incredibly community oriented and has been an active member of the Panvala League—using PAN to reward their contributors and leading the Regenerative Commons Coalition alongside Commons Stack and Bloom Network. “We also try to be a bridge that connects projects that aren’t necessarily knowledgeable about the crypto space,” Ashley told us. She herself was new to crypto before joining Giveth in October and uncovering the possibilities of using blockchain technology to create a positive impact.
Giveth is always excited about new contributors and projects to add, and you can head here to see all the ways in which you can connect with this community. You can also become a Giver and support a project or simply head to their Discord page to offer feedback or say hello!
Thanks to both Willy and Ashley for the interviews – we are so happy to have Giveth as a part of the Panvala League community!
