This week we spoke with Jeremy Guzman of the Blockchain Education Network (BEN), the largest and longest running network of students, alumni, professors, teachers, professionals, and community leaders excited about blockchain across the world.
Students & Blockchain
The Blockchain Education Network (BEN) started nearly 8 year ago to encourage blockchain adoption by empowering leaders to bring this technology to their companies and communities. Today, BEN supports 7 national teams with students form 96 different countries across over 500 universities. “It is a robust network, and it continues to grow,” said Jeremy. Jeremy started the Blockchain Club at his own university 3 years ago, and he joined BEN after running into Erick Pinos, president of BEN, at the North American Bitcoin Conference. Jeremy is now head of tech on the Education Team at BEN and speaks passionately about the growing interest in blockchain technology across college campuses. He laughed when speaking to the difficulty of getting people interested in blockchain on his campus just 3 years ago – “it was a grind,” he said. Today, he says there is much more curiosity and intrigue among students as cryptocurrency becomes more mainstream.
What Students Get
BEN offers students community, connections, networking, career opportunities, conference tickets and beyond. “Students don’t always have the tools ready to gain experience and grow their network,” Jeremy explained. BEN’s desire is to stimulate more student involvement and set individuals up with opportunities to grow both individually and professionally. And while certain chapters like UC Berkley and Harvard have grown quite large, BEN’s goal is to ensure that smaller universities have a voice at the table as well.
Learn More & Support BEN
Jeremy was excited to share with us that BEN has recently launched the first ever intercollegiate crypto fund! The BEN Crypto Fund empowers members to showcase their Fundamental & Technical prowess without the need for them to put up any capital risk. BEN has also recently launched the BEN Uniswap Meta-Delegate to help university blockchain clubs within their network participate in Uniswap governance. You can support these funds or head over to their website, twitter, or discord to learn more / get involved!
We are so excited to have Blockchain Education Network as part of our Panvala League community and are thrilled to see interest in blockchain rising among students across the globe.
